In honor of LJ posting day, I'm posting to say why I'm not posting.

Today was the annual baseball trip my parents and I take in our attempt to visit all of the stadiums. This year was Cincinnati. Their old ballpark was one of the first ones we visited outside of Chicago, and we hadn't been back to visit the new park. We picked a Cubs game that was a make-up for a rain-canceled game back in April. Because it was a random Tuesday afternoon with 80% chance of thunderstorms, I have never seen such an empty ballpark. We were in the front row of the upper deck to start, but the sun was too intense (because not only did it not rain, it wasn't even cloudy), so we moved way up to the shade. We had the ENTIRE SECTION to ourselves, which meant we could whoop and clap really loudly when the Cubs got their two home runs. :) Sadly, the Reds scored 4, so the Cubs went down in defeat (as they usually do), but we still had a good time.

Sounds like a good time was had by all, although it must've been odd to have a whole section to yourselves. Don't you love it when the weather man is 100% wrong?

Right? We thought about not going because of the weather report. Good thing we didn't cancel!

Posting a post about not posting in which you posted. You have achieved POSTCEPTION!

Sorry about the Cubs. :(

The funny thing is, I haven't posted for so long because I feel like I need to set aside a lot of time to do it right, and I should be spending that time writing fic or responding to comments or something. But it didn't really take that long to make this not-a-post. Let this be a lesson unto me.

It comes with the territory. :(

Great pics! But ugh to the weather! That's the worse part of baseball games ... especially the sun. I burned from the elbow down on Saturday bc I had a short-sleeve shirt on LOL

Thanks! My camera phone is better than I thought!

My dad's on some kind of BP medication that makes him super susceptible to sun; we were in it for maybe half an hour and his leg had a little blister on it today. :(

ETA: I was going to tell you: we were talking about past games we've gone to, and since we'd taken a trolley across the river to get to the ballpark, my mom wondered how many different modes of transportation we'd taken to get to the stadiums. (There's been subway, light rail, heavy rail, streetcar, car, walking, and now trolley, if you're wondering.) We concluded we have to go by ferry some time, and I was so excited to find that both New York stadiums and Seattle have that option!

There's nothing wrong with going down in defeat. (My love of the Red Sox became a little tarnished when they broke the curse, though their performance this year is certainly satisfyingly awful.)

LOL! The Red Sox are my second favorite team because when I moved to Boston (in 1999), I realized how much they had in common with the Cubs. :) Of course, now they don't have that much in common anymore, so I agree with your tarnishment.

I'm glad you got to go. I love the pictures, especially with the field so green. I sat there wondering why the seats were so red and then I had about the biggest d'oh minute of the day.......

Hee! It was fun to be wearing our bright blue Cubs shirts amid that sea of red. :)

Z, I always forget you do this and then my heart gets stupid warm when it happens and you post and I remember. How close are you guys to seeing them all!?

My dad is missing Anaheim and Seattle, I'm missing Baltimore, Texas, new Milwaukee, new Philly and new Pittsburgh, and we're both missing both New Yorks plus all the places we don't want to be sitting outside for three hours in the summer: Arizona, Houston, Atlanta, Tampa, and Florida. So there's a ways to go!

That reminds me of seeing this terrible vampire musical on Broadway with a dancing garlic production number and the entire mezzanine was empty except for me, my sister, 3 gay dudes, and a poor confused tourist couple from Germany

LOL! I've never been to such an empty stadium.

My god, that is one empty stadium. You could practically run naked through the stands without running into anyone!

You didn't do that, did you?
Jul. 9th, 2014 06:07 pm (UTC)
No, but now I want fic where someone does. *chinhands*

Sounds like you had fund - haven't been to a baseball game in many years now.

But, eep! Giant pictures!!
Jul. 9th, 2014 06:09 pm (UTC)
It helps when you have low expectations for your own team, LOL.

Eep, I didn't realize that! Fixed now. Thanks!

What a great tradition!

Now, are you going to write a J2AU where the guys initiate that tradition with their little girl? Or a J2AU where they are baseball players? (I'll just sit here quietly waiting...)

Damn it.

I always love seeing your pictures, glad you're having a good trip J!

Thanks, hon! And thanks for inspiring this wave of posts; it's been so much fun!
Jul. 9th, 2014 03:22 pm (UTC)
Man, that looks like fun! I've only been to ONE baseball game - and left the 7th inning haha
Jul. 9th, 2014 06:10 pm (UTC)
LOL! It helped that I didn't actually expect my team to win.
