Supernatural report

Why yes, I am out of town at a conference and therefore have nothing to do in the evenings except watch TV and write fanfic.  Why do you ask?

  • I liked this ep a lot more than I thought I would, based on what I knew ahead of time (which was only that this is an ep making fun of cons and exuberant fans).  Basically, I liked it a lot up until the last segment.
  • I loved the two guys ending up in a real salt-and-burn and then saving the day, and I loved their matter-of-fact  "we're scared, but we want to help, 'cause that's what Dean and Sam would do" (which put the most awesome thoughtful look on Dean's face).  That moment had me thinking, "Yeah, the writers get it.  They understand us and why we really care about this show."
  • Too bad they had to beat us over the head with it in the final scene.
  • Also, can we stop with the Wincest references already?  I'm not objecting in principle--it's not like I don't like to read it on occasion (okay, on lots of occasions)--but it's like the writers are trying to cram a reference in every ep this season, and it's going to stop being funny right about...the next time it happens.
  • I haven't been to a con, but it's my understanding that there were way too few women at this one for it to be realistic.
  • Chuck taking out the ghost with the iron whatever-it-was rocked.  Way to step up to the plate, dude!
  • I'm with Becky--I love it when the boys speak in unison, and it's been a long time since we've had that.  That, along with Dean's, "I'm good," at the end, is a sure sign that things are about to go to hell...
  • I liked Fritz's line about the cliche of the creepy kids, because, yeah.  Kripke reminds me of Chris Carter with his obvious issues with children.  OTOH, those were seriously creepy ghost kids.
  • Fangirl Becky was mostly so obnoxious it hurt.  The fanboys got to be 3-D characters who helped Dean learn a little lesson, while the fangirl remained a complete and utter ditz (even if she did remember one little piece of info that even Chuck had forgotten, which cracked me up.)  *sigh*

I fricking loved it, but yeah, you're right, there goes the women's quota again, and the two boys cracked me up all the way, but I concede, that last one was a bit over the top *g* I'm kinda glad that the Winchesters got their life put into perspective though, it was more than due time. And I loved the allusions to first-season-scenes, I love when they do that. (Dean hands on the car, waiting for sammy....) and OF COURSE it's going to go to hell (not only considering the promo I've seen for 5X10 it's the semi-season-FINALE... ARRRRRRGH... Chuck is love though! And I hope that they're starting to mend slowly. PLUS... nods to Sir Prachtett and Mr. Gaiman... these writers are SUCH TERRIBLE NERDS eHEHEHehehehe

I think maybe it annoys me because I know they can never actually go there on the show. With most shows that involve UST, there's the teasing of the audience which (inevitably) builds up to making out--but here all they can do is tease. The first few times were funny, like "OMG, I can't believe they alluded to Wincest!", but it could easily get old.

Exactly. I've only seen the promo that aired after this week's ep, but the mid-season finale is usually a doozy...

Besides, the show's writers don't seem to like to keep the boys happy for much longer than I do, LOL.

I think that's it, cause they can hint all they want, but they'll never actually going to get there, lik eScully and Mulder or Bones and Booth and whoever. And i don't think I would want them to(o)...

No, they really really don't ... I loved Sam's 'Any last words?' - Dean: "Here goes nothing!" Spot ON... I bet that's the cliffhanger..,. OHGODOHGODOHGOD...

Oh, I wouldn't want them to either.

I went into this episode with low expectations and came out of it pleasantly surprised. I always seem to like the "ghost" eps and those kids were definitely creepy, if not actually scary.

BTW, what happened to the third ghost? Barnes and Damien only salted and burned two of them. My only thought on this score was that dealing with two thirds of the spooky trio lessened the power of the third that it was no longer an issue - either that or he was dealt with separately.

Also, what was with all the Impalas? That's just impossible IMHO. Looks like they called all their cars into service for that shot. :)

One other thing - where the hell was Dean's ring? Was that a prop oversight? I don't recall if he had it in the previous episode, but it was definitely absent for this one.

Other than that, I can't wait for TPTB to kill of Becky. She's just plain annoying. However, Crowley? That's cool - and no doubt based on the real Aleister Crowley - even if they just stole his name. Oops - is that spoilerish? Coz seriously, just speculation on my part. And I'm also sick of being bludgeoned over the head with Wincest references.

I also love it when the boys speak in unison, btw.

As for the con, I've read that it resembled the cons of the 90s - and bear in mind that this was a book con and not a TV show con, and I think that makes a difference - less emphasis on pretties and more on actual content.

Anyway, I'm just feeling happy that it was a reasonably solid MOTW outing, and it was actually nice to see that Dean not only said he was good, but that he actually looked like he was good.

Me too, on both counts. I was wondering about that third ghost myself...I like your idea. Or, hey, sounds like a plot bunny to me...

There've been other people commenting on Dean's missing ring for this ep and the last one; I'm assuming that was an oops on the prop people's part, since there isn't any special meaning attached to the ring the way there is to the amulet, right?

Other than that, I can't wait for TPTB to kill of Becky. She's just plain annoying.

LOL! Plot bunny #2...

Yes, he really did. *hugs Dean* Which, as I said above, is a sure sign that the bottom is about to drop out from under them. :(

That's the best way to deal with plot bunnies: get them to go gnaw on someone else's ankle.
